Overview
Purpose
The purpose of the PSLA Webpage is to serve as the online official publication of the Association, to disseminate information regarding policies and positions adopted by the Association, and to disseminate information regarding professional issues of state and national importance
Responsibility
Information must be submitted to the webmaster for consideration. The webmaster has the final decision for all items posted on the PSLA website. An editorial committee consisting of the webmaster, web committee and board representative will advise the webmaster concerning content placed on the webpage.
Content
Material may include, but not be limited to, original articles, bibliographic essays, committee information, calendar, personalities, reviews, news, Internet links to appropriate library media sites and other contributions. Publication on the PSLA website does not imply official policy endorsement by PSLA or endorsement of the opinions expressed by individual contributors.
Copyright
All information on the PSLA website is subject to copyright by PSLA and may be reproduced for the non-commercial purpose of educational advancement.
Appointment of the Webmaster: The President of the Association shall appoint the webmaster for PSLA.
Line of Authority
The webmaster shall be a member of the Electronic Communications Committee and will work with the editor of Learning and Media to disseminate information for the Association in the best possible manner.
Guidelines for Submitting and Article for Publication
- Information must be of general interest to most PSLA members and should deal with library issues or with the application of principles to the library media program.
- Information submitted by vendors should be unbiased or of general interest to most PSLA members.
- Information must be submitted to the Webmaster for consideration. The Webmaster has the final responsibility for all action taken on published information.
- All information on the PSLA website is subject to copyright by PSLA and may be reproduced for the non-commercial purpose of educational advancement.
- Publication in the PSLA Webpage does not imply official policy endorsement by PSLA or endorsement of the opinions expressed by individual contributors.
- Email a copy containing the article in the software in which it was originated and rich-text formula formatted file must be submitted whenever possible. Create the document you would like to submit considering the font and format listed in #9. Copy document by “selecting all”. Go to your mailbox online and create a new message. Click in the body of the message and paste your document. This will allow the webmaster to take any document and use it for the webpage easily. Documents sent to the webmaster in this fashion do not need to be sent in any other format. It is important that communication between the webmaster and the person submitting the article is exchanged in a timely fashion. This will ensure that the information is received by the webmaster and the published information is acceptable to the author of the information.
- There is no prescribed minimum or maximum page length unless specified by webmaster.
- Citations should be consistent with www.mla.org (MLA).
- All text must be in Courier (10 pts). All text should be single-spaced with appropriate margins.
- Terminology should be consistent with PSLA policy and practice.
- Submissions should include any timeline for the publication. The webmaster should clearly understand that updated information is needed on the web by a certain date or that information should only posted for a certain amount of time.
- Good clear photographs in color or black and white may be submitted. All photographs should be labeled on the back and a suitable caption may be recommended. Writers are also encouraged to submit graphs and charts when appropriate. A signed photo release is necessary. Photographs attached to or included in email should be jpg files. Graphs or charts may also be in gif format.
- Form for photo release and electronic publishing must be submitted with biographical and personal information.
