Booktalk/Slidetapes Scripts

Introduction

Booktalks for the currently nominated titles for the Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Awards have been prepared for your use. These scripts are ideal to introduce students to the Young Reader's Choice Awards Program. The scripts present all titles within each division to encourage the students to both read the nominated books and participate in the PYRCA. The scripts may be printed out and handed to students in hard copy, presented orally to the class, or displayed as a slide program or hyperstack.

We have included Internet links which can help you and your students more fully appreciate the books. You can also find more information about the books and authors by using databases available through POWERLibrary. These scripts are meant to be used and adapted as you wish. Feel free to copy and share them with other librarians in your district. Some librarians take slides of the book covers and record the script and present it during library classes. Others have made transparencies of the covers, or color copies and used the opaque projector. If you are really brave and have the software, try a HyperStudio or PowerPoint presentation. By all means make a recording or you will lose your voice. Better yet, have your students record the script or read it aloud.
