Other Information About Becoming a School Librarian

American Association of School Librarians (Division of ALA) provides information about career development such as the role of school library media specialists, information about how to attain national certification, and a guide to becoming a school librarian. They also have a new web site that includes recruitment information for librarians.

American Library Association's Directory of ALA Accredited LIS Master's Programs lists all Master's degree programs which have received accreditation through this organization.

Become A Librarian.Org - This New Jersey web site includes information about what librarians do, training and education information, and other information about becoming a librarian.

National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education or NCATE lists which Pennsylvania colleges have NCATE accreditation as well as provides information useful to future teachers.

PSLA's Learning and Media Recruitment Corner - This Learning and Media column focuses on PSLA's efforts on recruiting school librarians and other related information pertaining to becoming a school librarian.  The column will appear in Learning and Media beginning with issue Fall 2002.
