Act 34 and 151 Background Checks are required of all potential teachers and school librarian in Pennsylvania.

EdNa (Education Names and Addresses) lists contact information for school districts and intermediate units.  The information includes names and addresses of administrators, school web site address, and basic information about the district or intermediate unit.  PA Profiles provide additional information about schools and school districts, such as test scores, enrollment statistics, staff information and retention rates, class size, and other information useful to know before interviewing or accepting a position in a particular school district.

PA Standard Application for Teaching Positions - A downloadable version of the Standard Application, which all districts in PA require applicants to submit when applying for a teaching position.

PA Department of Education - lists job vacancies that have been posted to PENN*LINK.  However, there is no statewide database of teaching vacancies.  Also, this page lists other web sites that post teaching positions available in Pennsylvania.  Other information about finding a teaching position in the Commonwealth can be located here.

Library Spot.Com  provides links to web sites, such as ALA Employment, that post available library positions.

Please note that most colleges and/or library schools offer job placement services through the library science department or placement center.    Some colleges may also post this information on their web site.

What School Librarians Have to Say About Being A School Librarian:
I love my job because I travel across the beautiful state of Pennsylvania and visit many school districts and networks with hundreds of wonderful school librarians who are doing terrific things for Pennsylvania kids. This gives me tremendous professional growth and energizes me to keep on working.

Are you a school librarian who would like to share why you love your job?
