• ExplorePAHistory.com is a searchable site that includes a wealth of information on Pennsylvania history including biographical information, multimedia clips, lesson plans, and other information of use and interest to teachers and students alike.
  
  
• Pennsylvania State Archives' Archieves Records Information Access System (ARIAS) - This system includes digitized Revolutionary War Military Abstract Cards, War War I Service Medal applications, Spanish American War Veterans' Cards, and over 400,000 recently added Civil War Service card images. To access it, click on "Digital Archives" under the "Research" heading.
  
  
• WorldcomMarcoPolo - The MarcoPolo program provides no-cost, standards-based Internet content for the K-12 teacher and classroom, developed by the nation's content experts. Online resources include panel-reviewed links to top sites in many disciplines, professionally developed lesson plans, classroom activities, materials to help with daily classroom planning, and powerful search engines.
  
  
• Database of Award-Winning Children's Literature This database of children's literature is designed to allow teachers and librarians to tailor literature lists to the needs of their students. 
  
  
• AskERIC Virtual Library of Lesson Plans (Educator?s Reference Desk) This virtual library contains over 1000 lesson plans submitted by teachers and is searchable by subject and grade level. 
  
  
• Children's Literature Web Guide includes the Doucette Index of ideas for teaching literature to students, book lists of award-winning literature, a discussion board, and links to other literature-related resources. 
  
  
• Classroom Connect  Useful for k-12 educators, this organization provides cost-based conferences and educational resources related to teaching using technology.   Some free resources are also available on this site. 
  
  
• Teachnet includes a teacher bulletin board, information on preparing for a substitute, classroom management techniques, and other practical suggestions and activities for teachers to use with their students. 
  
  
• Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators is a great site with a variety of information for educators organized by subject by former librarian Kathy Schrock.  Links to Puzzlemaker, Brain Boosters, and other useful sites are included. 
  
  
• KidsClick was created by the librarians of Ramapo Catskill Library System and is a searchable web directory for kids. 
  
  
• McREL Educator Resources describes itself as "a private, nonprofit organization whose purpose is to improve education through applied research and development."   Its resources include information about standards and standard-based education. 
  
  
• PA Dept. of Education includes information about Act 48, school profiles, teacher certification, and other topics of interest to those who teach or would like to teach in the state of Pennsylvania. 
  
  
• Teaching Tips includes practical teaching tips, such as preparing for a substitute, designing bulletin boards, writing lesson plans, and sponsoring fundraisers. 
  
  
• The Official Newbery Page is the American Library Association's official site for the Newbery Award.  This site includes a list of current and past award winners, award criteria, and information about the medal and how it is awarded.
  
  
• The Official Caldecott Page is the American Library Association's official site for the Caldecott Award.  This site includes a list of current and past award winners, award criteria, and information about the medal and how it is awarded.
  
  
• PA Young Reader's Choice Program is PSLA's official web site for the Young Reader's Choice, an annual award sponsored by PSLA.  Pennsylvania students read and vote to determine which books (by grade levels) win the award.  The site includes a program book list, book talk scripts, and other useful information for those interested in participating in the program. 
  
  
• Nancy Polette Online  is the site of  Nancy Polette, a Professor of Education at Lindenwood University.  The site includes her "best of the best" book selections, literature guides, and workshop handouts. 
  
  
• BioChemHub includes a variety of links and useful information related to biology, chemistry, biotechnology, teaching cience, and science careers. 
  
  

Intellectual Freedom

• ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom includes links to the Library Bill of Rights, an FAQ on censorship, and advice on how censorship can be combatted. 
  
  
• American Civil Liberties Union is the ACLU's official site which include information on all aspects of civil liberties. 
  
  
• First Amendment Cyber-Tribune includes a variety of information on the first amendment, including first amendment text, court cases, and alerts. 
  
  
• Global Internet Liberty Campaign includes information about free speech issues and up-to-date national and international news related to civil liberties, particularly freedom of speech. 
  
  
• Library Bill of Rights includes the text of this important library document.

• Golden Gate University: Intellectual Freedom Page - Legislation Information lists censorship/free speech related information and legislation and court cases, with a particular focus on technology.
  
  
• PA State Legislation includes links to the PA State House, Senate, and PA Capitol.   Legislation can be searched, and the full text of bills can be accessed through this web site.
