See you at the Annual Conference
By Wednesday, 14 April 2010 00:00
Don't forget to "Make Your Mark @your librarytm". The PSLA 37th annual conference, April 15-17, 2010, just like spring, is right around the corner. Once again the venue is at the Penn Stater in State College. If you missed it last year, don't miss it this year. Our evaluations from last year were overwhelmingly complimentary. We expect to top that this year.
Our outstanding Conference Committee, under the direction of VP and Conference Chair, Doug Francis, has been diligently working through the past year to bring you the best conference experience ever. Our Keynote Speaker, Stephanie Vance, known as the Advocacy Guru, will bring us a timely message. I've had the experience, and she was entertaining as well as thought-provoking. Our Banquet speaker, Robin Wasserman will share her know-how. Our Luncheon speaker, Newbery Award winner Laura Amyt Schlitz, who just happens to be a school librarian like the rest of us, will delight us.
But that's just scratching the surface. Take advantage of the numerous professional development choices offered in the pre-conference session. the workshops, and the mini-sessions. From literacy, to authors, to curriculum, to all types of technology, it is all there. Of course, we have the exhibits which will give you the best and newest in school library innovations and program offerings. And then, there is time to renew old acquaintances and make new ones. The Penn Stater fully stocked snack and beverage break areas, which are included in your conference, make an easy and enjoyable place to meet.
Can't get time off from school? Well, head up to State College right after school on Friday, be there in time for the Banquet at 7 P.M. and enjoy the sessions and Luncheon on Saturday. Get some friends together, car pool, and make it a "road trip." When was the last time you took a road trip with your friends? Go for it and see you there!!!
