Curriculum Committee
Purpose
The Curriculum Committee reviews state and national trends in K-12 curriculum and informs the PSLA members of current developments.
Responsibilities
The committee members work to demonstrate the integral role of the school library in the learning process by collecting and developing programs and publications that model best practice.
Current Points of Focus
- Developing instructional strategies to accompany the new AASL 21st Century Learning Standards
- Developing instructional strategies to accompany the current Pennsylvania Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking Standards and Assessment Anchors (Coming Fall 2008)
- Collecting links to articles and model curriculum
- Analyzing results of all of the above to eventually create a PSLA model curriculum
- Recruiting and planning presentations for curriculum related workshops at the 2009 PSLA conference
- Showcasing curricular developments in Learning and Media
- Publishing a brochure and website as a resource for library students and practitioners
